DRAWINGs

------------------POCHE--------------------

This section poche drawing mainly examines, firstly, how the sky lights and ribbon window work. Secondly, it presents the way that the building fits into the landscape context and the site conditions which is flat.

The plan poche drawing focuses on the distinction between open area and enclosed space through rendering in different darkness. It also demonstrates an idea of that the ribbon window gives light back in the private space so that the space is not too dark and the residents are able to view out through it.

------------------PARTI--------------------

1.program

By using hatching with different intensity, it shows the hierarchy of the building in terms of privacy and the frequency that spaces is used.

Obviously, on the level one on which most living activities happen, private bedrooms have been separated from living room and outdoor garden by a centralized circulation corridor.

2.geometry

Vehicular circulation trace on the ground level has been integrated into the geometry of the building through positioning a semi-circle at the front.

The above level has been divided into three triangles in terms of degree of privacy.

The section shows how the villa has been elevated up the ground and it seems to be floating in the air. It represents one of the Le Corbusier's 5 points in Architecture, which describes using columns to elevate major living space up from the ground. Le Corbusier declared that the ground is wet and unhealthy and garden should be elevated up the ground so that it is dry and healthy for residents to enjoy their lives in.

3.circulation

The ground ploor plan shows clearly the integration of vehicular circulation with the building form.

The plan above it demonstrates a centralized circulation system throughout the building with a set of staircase and ramp going all the way up to the roof.

For the section, an important feature associated with the staircase is revealed. The staircase breaks up the domination of the horizonality created by the ramp and the relatively big floor plan through putting a sense of verticality at the centre of its major circulation area.

4.structure

The villa is laid on a grid system with structural walls acting as bracing elements.

Utility of columns allows free design of the floor plan as well as facades.

The section drawing also shows a beam running right underneath the first floor. This kind of structural beams can be seen exposed both on the ground floor and the first floor.

4.enclosure

Enclosure diagram effectively examines the other two points of Le Corbusier's 5 points which are first the free design of floor plan and then the free design of the facade with ribbon window wrapping around.

Section one again emphasizes the floating scheme of the amazing design.

--------------PRESENTATION----------------

This picture shows how the drawings go together when they are pinned on the presentation board.

I draw a ground line that separates the sections from the plans.

Sections become tool of the building communicating with the context the landscape in fact.

It helps decrease the confusion developed by the diversity of the diagrams and move the eyes horizontally across the whole page rather than skipping around to seek for a particular drawing that you want to look at.
